Necronomicon

Necronomicon.

The Necronomicon, also known as the Malleus Monstrorum, Malleus Bestiarum, or Kitab el Azif in Arabic, is a book with mystical and demonic properties that was written in the early 8th century by a man known as Abdul Alhazred.

Overview[]

In his old age, Alhazred lived in the great city of Damascus, where he produced the Kitab al Azif, writing the evil works of the Old Ones unto indestructible parchments of flesh. Alhazred met his end when a Destroying Angel conjured a blast of lightning onto his dwelling place, completely eradicating him and any traces of his work. However, the Necronomicon was unscathed but was left buried beneath the sands.

In the long years that followed, many individuals sought to claim the Necronomicon and translations of this great work have been made in the process. When used by any foolish enough to wield it, the users are often visited by an avatar of Nyarlathotep either to challenge those who attempt to use it, to warn them about the dangers of the Necronomicon, or to entice a person to use a page or spell.

Content[]

The Necronomicon's pages contain a number of powerful black magic spells. However, its influence is so strong that all those who read it are corrupted, losing their souls and becoming possessed by Ogdru-Hem. It possesses a wide arrange of information and spells, so much so that it would be nigh-impossible to describe them all.

Perhaps the most well known spell found in the Necronomicon is the so-called Montesi Formula, a powerful incantation that can utterly destroy all vampires.

The more infamously known ones are: a complicated and lengthy process capable of resurrecting the dead, A formula for Mind Transference, information on the Antarctic Elder Things, information on the Ogdru Hem, and even a spell to summon, Yog-Sothoth.
